Our Approach

We take a holistic, family-centred approach, working alongside you to build on your child’s strengths and support them through any challenges they may face. Every child is celebrated as wonderfully unique, which is why the services we provide aim to be flexible, personalised and shaped around what matters most to your family.

  • Kira can provide one off assessments of your child’s sensory processing, functional capacity, play, fine and gross motor skills, self-care and visual perceptual skills. She can also complete observations of your child within care or school settings to assess for their needs in alternative environments. 

    The therapist can provide high quality assessment and reports to assist your child in accessing further supports such NDIS, additional assessments or through school. 

  • Therapy frequency and environment is tailored to each family and child’s needs depending on their aims or goals when accessing occupational therapy. Ocean Kids is solely a mobile practice based on the Bellarine Peninsula as we believe children thrive when supported in their everyday environments. Therapy can be provided in the home, childcare, kindergarten, school or community settings. For flexibility, we also offer online and phone sessions when needed, making support more accessible for you and your family.

    Including emotional development, co-regulation and calming strategies

Funding

You do not need a referral to access occupational therapy through Ocean Kids. You can also pay for therapeutic support up front without the following funding listed.

  • Families can potentially access a Medicare rebate for a number therapy sessions however, these plans are determined and completed by your General Practitioner. This plan could include a Chronic Disease Management Plan.

  • We recommend discussing with your Private Health insurance provider to determine whether your level of cover includes accessing rebates for occupational therapy.

  • Ocean Kids supports clients under the NDIS who are self managed or plan managed. As Ocean Kids is not a registered NDIS provider we cannot accept clients who are NDIA managed.
